The work originates from a vandalistic gesture, from mischief, from a lack, restoring the body to this form of ruin. It is a work that speaks of memory, of absence, of time, opening a talk between present and past, between public and private, between external and internal.

A potentially infinite mapping to be developed by sampling statues that are continually breaking in Italy, Europe and the world.

A collection of plaster noses, demonstrating that even noses can be plastered.

Serena Vestrucci (Milano, 1986)

Graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and at the IUAV University in Venice, she has exhibited in several institutions and foundations including: Palazzo Reale, Milan; G.A.M. Gallery of Modern Art, Milan; Museum of Contemporary Art Villa Croce, Genoa; Archaeological Museum Salinas, Palermo; Frise Künstlerhaus, Hamburg; Stedelijk Museum, ‘S-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands; Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, Turin; Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Venice; Marsèlleria Permanet Exhibition, Milan.

Her works originate from everyday elements that are modified and reworked through a manual process as well as conceptual. It is no coincidence that her research has often focused on the time required for the work to be carried out, starting with the broader reflection on what it means for an artist to distinguish between free time and working time, and whether it is possible to do so.
